"Logicalis SMC was selected as implementation partner particularly because of its extensive technical skills. They have a great deal of knowledge of HPSD and HPSM and manage those tools down to the finest detail."

- Mark van Zaale, Manager Information Management -

The customer
Logicalis SMC implemented HP Service Manager for the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS, Dutch Railways), with 10 independent management organisations being required to use the same package.

The challenge
Project Manager Mark van Zaale of NS: “There were actually two triggers for the switch to HPSM. HP was going to stop maintaining HP Service Desk and we wanted better control of the entire public transport chipcard and ticket barrier chain. Two initiatives were launched, one in the Business Systems department and one here in the Shared Service Center. We put our heads together and NS decided on a wide roll-out taking in all 10 departments.”

The solution
“Logicalis SMC was selected as implementation partner particularly because of its extensive technical skills. They have a great deal of knowledge of HPSD and HPSM and manage those tools down to the finest detail.”

The benefits
“The train is on the track and now we have to drive it. The various departments must work together to ensure that the benefits of this operation can be realised. And there are benefits to be had. For example, we can pass tickets over to each other instead of always creating new ones. We’ve laid a solid basis for harmonised ITSM at NS and that’s what it was about.”
