Making an impact with our Volunteer days

Giving back isn't just a policy, it's part of who we are

Since launching our Volunteer Day Scheme in 2023, every employee has had the chance to take one paid day off a year to support charitable work in their community.

This year, we're pushing that commitment further than ever before! Our new initiative focuses on environmental conservation and carbon offsetting, with team volunteering activities organised across the Logicalis UK, Ireland and Channel Islands teams. Our commitment to sustainability is about making a real difference for the planet, for our communities, and for each other.

Our volunteering days are an expression of our Employee Value Proposition that fuels our work culture:

  • Belong: Our DE&I initiatives drive positive change in representation and foster a supportive environment where everyone feels welcome.
  • Grow: By stepping out of our usual roles, we learn new skills, gain fresh perspectives, and develop as individuals and teams.
  • Thrive: Giving back energises us, boosts wellbeing, and helps us all flourish at work and beyond.

Small actions are the beginnings of significant change

The group volunteering days were rolled out across our four locations:

Jersey: Bracken clearing with Jersey Heritage

Bracken might look harmless, but it can dominate landscapes and threaten biodiversity. Clearing the bracken encourages native flora and fauna to thrive and prevents soil degradation and erosion. When it dries out, bracken becomes a fire hazard, endangering surrounding wildlife.

Our hands-on work helped restore balance to local ecosystems and support the conservation of heathlands and other unique habitats.

Guernsey: Hay removal with the National Trust of Guernsey.

After the meadow flowers bloom, to help maintain the meadows' biodiversity, we were tasked with removing the dried hay. How does removing hay affect the meadows?

  • It supports pollinators like bees and butterflies.
  • Boosts climate resilience by maintaining healthy meadows.
  • Promotes sustainable land management, without using fertilisers or pesticides.

A traditional practice with modern benefits, the simple act of removing hay is a perfect example of a nature-based solution for climate action.

Ireland: City Clean-Up with Volunteer Ireland.

A half-day clean-up in Dublin and the surrounding areas made public spaces more welcoming and environmentally friendly. Our teams tackled parks, streets, and riversides, transforming public spaces into cleaner, safer, and more welcoming places for everyone. A simple way to give back, with an immediate, visible impact.

Beyond the environmental benefits, these clean-ups are a brilliant way to connect with the local community and each other.

UK: Conservation activities with TCV

A chance to get hands-on with nature and see the difference we can make together: planting saplings, building wildlife habitats, restoring footpaths. Every task contributes to a healthier, more resilient environment.

These days are a fantastic opportunity to connect in a new setting, learn practical conservation skills, and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing the results of your work.

The Bigger Picture

Every pitchfork lifted, every bracken cleared, every bag of litter collected adds up to something powerful:

  • Healthier ecosystems.
  • Stronger communities.
  • A shared sense of purpose among our teams.

Our volunteering days are about living our values and shaping a sustainable future.

"Our Volunteer Day Scheme is a true reflection of what it means to belong, grow, and thrive at Logicalis. By coming together to support our communities and the environment, we're not just making a difference outside the company; we're building stronger connections within our teams, learning new skills, and creating a workplace where everyone can flourish. It's about living our values every day."
