Speaker Highlights

Rob Lay, CTO at Cisco UKI: Infrastructure & Digital Resilience in the AI Era

Rob opened the session by addressing one of the biggest challenges facing CIOs today – ensuring their data foundations are secure and ready to scale AI effectively.

He explored how organisations must overcome increasing complexity, flat budgets, and competing priorities, while ensuring their infrastructure is ready to support AI-driven workloads. A key theme was the importance of fast, secure, real-time data movement, underpinned by networks designed for low latency, visibility, and resilience.

Rob reinforced that success lies in taking a unified approach, combining data, security, and observability to create a strong, scalable foundation for AI innovation. To find out more, click here.

Matt Watts, Owner of Six Words: Riding the Next Wave: Building Intelligent Data Infrastructure for the AI Era

Matt told a compelling story about how organisations can turn disruption into opportunity by embracing the next wave of intelligent data infrastructure. He walked the audience through a number of technological and innovative waves that have challenged the way we work over the last two decades, sparking engaging and nostalgic debates.

He went on to explore the current AI boom - not as a short-term trend, but as a transformational wave, comparable to past shifts such as virtualisation and cloud. His session highlighted the importance of creating environments where data is unified, governed, automated, and AI-ready.

A key takeaway was the need to bring intelligence closer to where data resides, enabling faster insights and improved business outcomes. Matt encouraged leaders to proactively steer into this wave, rather than risk being left behind, but also keep one eye on the future and what that next wave might be. The audience suggested ‘data sovereignty’ and ‘quantum computing' as two potential waves. Click here to explore this conversation further.

Glenn Wilkinson, CEO at Agger Labs: Inside the Hacker’s Mind: Cyber Warfare and the Battle for Our Digital Future
