Logicalis Appointed to IT Supplier Framework for 150 + UK Universities

, Jan 31, 2017

SUPC’s initial two-year agreement for servers, storage and solutions reflects Logicalis’ steadfast value to the higher education sector

Logicalis UK, the international IT Solutions and Managed Services provider, has secured its place in the Servers, Storage and Solutions Agreement framework for the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC). Selected for ‘Lot 4: Reseller Solutions’, the framework positions Logicalis to extend its innovation and leadership in the UK higher education sector for at least the next two years.

Bob Swallow, Managing Director at Logicalis UK, said: "These are exciting times for the UK university sector as it seeks new digital opportunities to become even more competitive on the global stage. We are meeting the need for more agile, responsive and powerful computing solutions, through an intimate understanding of new technologies and a proven track record of supporting leading universities and higher education facilities. This appointment recognises our specialist value and will allow us to continue driving innovative platforms for future deployments.”

The new SUPC framework brings together providers and manufacturers to supply servers, storage, converged, hyper-converged, hybrid and high performance computing solutions to over 150 UK universities via an EU-compliant procurement process. Its value is estimated at between £200m and £600m over its lifetime: an initial two years, with the potential for two additional 12-month extension periods.

Logicalis’ appointment to the SUPC framework is the latest in its long-running series of achievements related to the UK higher education sector. Among these is the legacy of ‘firsts’ accumulated over the last decade, including the first hybrid-cloud infrastructure solution (for Loughborough University) in 2011, and the first complete hyper-converged digital data centre (for Wolverhampton University) in 2015.

“Logicalis will leverage this framework to achieve digital transformations for many more UK universities, offering multiple integrated technologies to suit unique requirements,” added Swallow. “We are committed to breaking further new ground, making the complex simple and equipping IT decision makers with the software-defined architectures to dictate change at the speed of business.”
